Ingredients
Yields 16 pieces
- 80g glutinous rice flour (糯米粉)
- 50g Tapioca flour (木薯粉)
- 40g unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 60ml milk
- Cheese flavor (for 16 pieces)
- 30g Parmesan cheese powder
- 50g grated Parmesan cheese
- Chocolate flavor (for 16 pieces)
- 25g chocolate chips (cut into ~0.5cm pieces)
- 10g cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 30g confectioner's sugar
- Matcha flavor (for 16 pieces)
- 30g confectioner's sugar
- 6g matcha powder
Steps
- Preheat oven to 355°F
- Mix the glutinous rice flour and tapioca flour
- Melt the unsalted butter and mix with milk and egg
- Mix the ingredients from step 2 and 3. Split the dough for different flavors as desired.
- Add in the flavoring ingredients and mix well
- Divide the dough into 16 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- Optionally, add filling into the ball, like chocolate chips for chocolate flavor, or cubed cheese for cheese flavor
- Place dough balls on a baking mat and bake in 355°F for around 15 mins depending on the oven
Tips:
It is recommended that you finish the mochi balls within a day when they are soft and chewy. But if there are leftovers, you can reheat them in the microwave in 5 second increments until warm to touch, or in a toaster oven (300°F) for 3 minutes to soften them up.

- Chocolate flavor (for 16 pieces)
- 25g chocolate chips (cut into ~0.5cm pieces)
- 10g cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 30g confectioner's sugar
- Matcha flavor (for 16 pieces)
- 30g confectioner's sugar
- 6g matcha powder

- Melt the unsalted butter (40g) and mix with milk (60ml) and 1 egg
- Mix the ingredients from step 2 and 3. Split the dough for different flavors as desired.

- Divide the dough into 16 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- Place dough balls on a baking mat and bake in 355°F for 25-28 mins depending on the oven
